About Havet i skolan
Who is it for ?
Havet i skolan (Ocean in School) is for teachers of children and young people who want to integrate the ocean into their teaching. Here you can easily search and find material that suits you and your students. If you want to leave the classroom and take your pupils on a field trip, you will also find suggestions for museums, science centres and aquariums around the country that offer activities for school classes with the ocean in focus.
Who is behind the site?
Havet i skolan is run by Voice of the Ocean, a Swedish foundation founded in 2019, which aims to conduct, support and promote research and education about the ocean and its dynamic processes and history. With a holistic approach, the foundation wants to increase knowledge about the interaction between people and the sea. Voice of the Ocean actively works to increase ocean awareness in society, both among decision-makers and the general public. One of the foundation's pillars is the VOTO Education section, which aims to make educational material about the ocean available for various educational activities.
What does it mean that the material on the site is quality-assured?
The materials presented on The Ocean at School have been produced by organisations, museums, foundations, universities and science centres working with the ocean in different ways. The selection of material for the site has taken into account that the material is current, relevant and clearly adapted for use in teaching. In the vast majority of cases, there are links to the curriculum or global goals. Ultimately, each producer is responsible for their own material.
